Comrie will become the centre of Scotland for mountain biking thrill-seekers this month, as Strathearn Mountain Biking Club (SMBC) and Comrie Croft team up to host the Scottish series mountain bike race on May 29.
It is the third race in the national Scottish cross country series, and the first time the trails at Comrie Croft have been used for an event of this scale.
SMBC youth coach Derek Dobbins said, “To be able to host of a round of this prestigious series is a real coup both for Comrie Croft and for the bike club.
“Our local riders will be represented in the junior and senior categories and it’s great to have our club members competing at this level.”
Comrie Croft Bikes manager Colin Mcphail said, “I hope the event will be a springboard to encourage more folk to come and ride here at Comrie Croft.
“We have been working hard over the years to give folk a place to come and ride their bikes, and we have recently had great news regarding funding for an expansion to the trails.
“The event will be great for competitors and spectators alike, so head along for a day of thrills and spills.”Strathearn Mountain Bike Club is appealing for marshals to help out on the day to contact colin@comriecroft.com.
