‘Enough is enough’ £4 T in the Park drugs case collapses after year of delay

A year-long court case brought about by the seizure of just £4 worth of drugs has been thrown out of court.

Sheriff Fiona Tait took the decision to drop proceedings against Lindsay Duthie after two police officers failed to appear as witnesses.

It had been alleged that Ms Duthie, of Nimmo Place, Perth, had been caught with the tiny amount of drugs at T in the Park last July.

However, after a full 12 months and numerous expensive appearances at Perth Sheriff Court the case was no closer to resolution on Monday.

The Crown was forced to move for a further adjournment as a depute fiscal admitted that, for a second time, officers had not been asked to attend.

Solicitor David Holmes, who said his client maintained her not guilty plea, objected to the further delay, saying: ”My client is aged 29 and has no previous convictions. She has already made four court appearances and we are now a year on.

”My submission is that enough is enough and this case should be dismissed.”

Sheriff Tait agreed and deserted the case, enabling Ms Duthie to walk free.
