Just about Movies Festival cancelled at last minute

Just about Movies Festival cancelled at last minute

Scots film fans have been left devastated by the eleventh-hour cancellation of Scotland’s first T in the Park-style film festival.

Just about Movies (JAM) was to have opened on Friday in the stunning surroundings of Tullibole Castle.

Devastated organisers said “ill health” left them with no option but to cancel the event and have apologised to fans.

A near sell-out crowd of 600 had been expected to make their way to Kinross-shire for the three-day event.

Billed as Scotland’s first major outdoor film festival it had fired the imagination of actors, directors, critics and fans and had been backed by a wealth of big names. It was due to have hosted the Scottish premiere of zombie horror film Plan Z, directed by Welsh Bafta winner Stuart Brennan.

The production brought zombies on to the streets of Perth, Kinross and Dunfermline, as well as to Tullibole, and JAM had been seen as the perfect place to stage the first screening.

In a statement, Jo Hood, one of the organisers, said: “It is with deep regret we have to announce the cancellation of the Just About Movies Festival.

“Unfortunately due to a personal situation of ill health, which is insurmountable in the short time between now and JAM, we have been left with no other option.

“We are very sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment this will cause and we are truly devastated at having to make this very hard decision.”

She thanked everyone for their support of JAM to date.

It is hoped the cancellation will not spell the end for the event, given the level of interest and support its creation has received.

Full refunds will be offered on tickets already purchased and questions can be sent to joe@justaboutmovies.co.uk or jojo@justaboutmovies.co.uk.
