Competitors gather in Aberfeldy to showcase Gaelic heritage
ByRichard Burdge
The annual celebration of Gaelic arts and culture, the Perthshire and Angus Provincial Mod, is now under way.
Held at the Breadalbane Community Campus in Aberfeldy, the event started with junior competitors taking to the stage.
The elements included storytelling, reciting from memory and Gaelic conversation as well as singing, choral music and instrumental classes for recorder, woodwind, brass and clarsach.
Today, some of the most fluent speakers will demonstrate their command of the language, narrating a story or reading an unfamiliar piece of prose.
Singing is again a major feature of the day and female and male voice choirs will be competing.
