£4 million Pitlochry centre could attract 50,000 visitors a year
ByGraham Gibson
A £4 million visitor centre at Pitlochry Dam could create a tourist boom in the region, believe Perthshire councillors.
Applicants Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) claim the attraction could double the 50,000 visitors who currently visit the dam and fish ladder on the River Tummel each year.
The centre will showcase the role played by the engineers who brought hydro power to Scotland more than 70 years ago and is set to open in Autumn next year.
Perthshire councillor John Kellas said: “SSE’s visitor centre is sure to be a fantastic attraction to locals and visitors alike; drawing them to what is already an impressive and popular site.”
