A Conservative general election campaign poster showing Ed Miliband in Alex Salmond’s pocket has sparked a Twitter frenzy.
The advert, aimed at voters in England, claims the SNP will be pulling the strings of Labour should Mr Miliband’s party form the next government as it would rely on support from the nationalists.
Prime Minister David Cameron said: “If you thought the worst outcome in this election is a Labour government led by Ed Miliband, think again.
“You could end up with a Labour government led by Ed Miliband, propped up by Alex Salmond and the Scottish National Party.”
However, their poster, which takes the idea of Mr Miliband being in Courier columnist Alex Salmond’s pocket to painfully literal extremes, has been mocked mercilessly by Scottish Twitter users.
Some, such as Alan Mackie, claim it makes the former First Minister look more statesman-like:
Tahira Mirza thought there were better pictures of Ed Miliband that could have been used.
Others saw, and took, a chance to mock Alex Salmond, Ed Miliband and the Conservatives all at the same time:
But political journalist Tom Gordon said the image may strike a chord a voters.
And, of course, where Alex Salmond goes, the search for Solero lady is never far behind.
