High-flying American singer Kelly Clarkson is reported to have taken a balloon trip over the Kinross area.

The former American Idol winner was understood to have taken the opportunity to see the Kinross-shire countryside in a Virgin Balloon on Tuesday with her family.

Virgin were tight lipped about the trip and refused to confirm she had travelled on the balloon, stating they had to protect the privacy of anyone who books a flight with them.

Clarkson had visited Edinburgh’s oldest pub, the Sheep Heid Inn, on Monday, where she took a photograph of a Belgian beer and a cappuccino on her table.

Staff at the pub had said she also tucked into a plate of chunky chips.

It was reported that she kept a low profile and managed to avoid being recognised by most people in the pub.

However, she tweeted her location to her 10 million followers.

She performed at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium over the weekend. This was her first visit back to the UK since the birth of her daughter River Rose.

Clarkson, from Burleson, Texas, rose to global stardom after triumphing in the first season of the American Idol TV talent show in 2002.
