Bin lorry driver faces trial over Dunblane wheelchair tragedy

A bin lorry driver has been charged following a crash with a man in an electric wheelchair last year.
Peter Wills, 80, died at the scene of the incident in Sheriffmuir Road, Dunblane, on December 3.
Police said “extensive inquiries” were carried out into the circumstances of the crash and the 42-year-old driver has now been charged.
He will appear in court later this year.
A police statement said: “A 42-year-old man has been charged with causing death by careless and inconsiderate driving following a fatal road traffic collision involving a refuse vehicle.
“This incident resulted in the death of 80-year-old local man Peter Wills.
“Extensive inquiries were conducted by the Stirling Road Policing Unit to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision, which occurred on 3rd December 2014.
“The man will appear in court at a later date.”
