Free church moderator says politicians ‘threatened’ into conforming with LGBT views
ByThe Courier Reporter
The Moderator of the Free Church of Scotland has criticised members of the gay, lesbian and transgender (LGBT) community for “threatening” politicians who don’t conform to their views.
The Rev David Robertson said he also echoed the sentiments of a prominent Highland MSP that Christian politicians are pressurised into “hiding” their faith.
Dave Thompson, who steps down as Holyrood representative for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch in May, made the comments ahead of a debate at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on Sunday.
Mr Robertson said there was “a culture of intimidation and bullying” against those seeking to stand for Biblical values.
He added: “In particular the LGBT lobby are so intolerant that the minute a candidate is selected they demand to know where they stand on LGBT issues and then threaten them if they don’t conform to their particular views.”
