Coming up in Wednesday’s Courier Buckfast bangers

Coming up in Wednesday’s Courier Buckfast bangers

If you like nothing more than a tipple of tonic wine, and similarly enjoy sausages then you will get very fulsome bang(er) for your buck(fast) in Wednesday’s Courier.

A Perth butcher with a penchant for the finer things in life has created a quite remarkable concoction in the form of Buckie bangers.

That’s right, sausages laced with Buckfast.

Sounds like a rather dubious mash-up, but has said butcher stumbled across a taste sensation?

Get all your sizzling sausage action as we investigate in Wednesday’s Courier.

In other news, terror has been stalking the streets of Broughty Ferry.

A horrific apparition, dubbed Spring Legs, was seen gyrating his way through the town with a “highly fantastic and unnatural” gait.

He was only stopped when a local resident armed only with a plant pot and deadly aim intervened…

Granted it happened 150 years ago, but what a story.

It is our pleasure to recount it.

In other news it’s D-day (or more accurately D-month) for Perthshire’s very own European Tree of the Year hopeful.

Yes, Lady’s tree (where the old osprey nests every year, don’t you know) is battling it out with the cream of the European crop for the top honour in the contest which surely rivals the X-Factor and Strictly in terms of full-on excitement.

We have all the very latest.

Meanwhile, if you are a football fan on a certain age you may well remember the days of Third Lanark.

And if you do remember those days you will almost certainly enjoy day three of our peregrination through Courier Country as recorded by British Pathe.

A match between Dundee FC and aforementioned Third Lanark is among the features.

For more on all of these delightful tales please do be sure to snap up Wednesday’s Courier. Failing that, why not try our digital edition?
