Coming up in Saturday’s Courier Craig David, we salute you

Coming up has little reason to agree with anything first person name-checking UK garage buffoon Craig David ever had to say in his mercifully brief chart career.

But when he called for a “Re-e-wind”, he was indubitably right on the button.

His foresight in demanding a weekend-long 80s throwback pop festival in the grounds of Scone Palace is enough to allow an element of forgiveness even after his questionable boasts of week-long bedroom gymnastics.

And so, Craig David, as the neon-clad masses descend on scenic Perthshire to lap up the delights of that decade’s top stars, and one of the Thompson Twins, we salute you, sir.

And in Saturday’s Courier, we also salute those hardy folks who have shrugged off rumours of floods, hail and thunderstorms to arrive early at Scone Palace.

Tribute is also paid to gliding great granny Betty Lyons who, years after watching our brave boys battle the Luftwaffe high overhead, finally took to the skies herself.

The 90-year-old former RAF secretary soared above Kinross-shire in “one of the most exhilarating experiences” of her life.

Now the visually impaired pensioner is taking to the shooting range.

Maybe sprightly Betty is the owner of a dog. Or several of them. Boffins have determined that pooch possession is the key to pensioners knocking 10 years off their ages thanks to their loving companionship and need for constant walkies.

And speaking of the great outdoors (and shooting things from the skies), Saturday’s Courier also reveals the results of our online poll on whether there should be a cull of seagulls.

We don’t think Bill Oddie would like the results. Call in Kes.

In sport, our terrific twosome bring all the latest from The Open at Hoylake and we’ll have previews of all the football action as the new season edges ever closer.
