Coming up in Friday’s Courier Cider and locomotives

Coming up in Friday’s Courier Cider and locomotives

We have got planes, trains and automobiles in Friday’s Courier only without planes or automobiles and the addition of a boat.

So trains (actually just one train) and a boat, in fact.

The Union of South Africa is a fine steam locomotive. I’ll say no more lest I get all the details wrong and offend lots of train spotters. Anyway, it has chugged its way through Tayside and Fife much to the delight of literally lots of people. We took some nice pictures, which you can enjoy gazing at in Friday’s Courier. You’ll be chuff-chuff-chuffed with the spread we have lined up.

And so to the high seas (or rather the Tay, pedants). We have news of the tasty tipple created after apples were plucked from a river island before transformed into cider at a Carse of Gowrie winery. The resultant amber nectar is either “very nice” or “curious”. Depending on who you believe. Read all about it in your working-week ending extravaganza of a Courier.

What a few weeks we have ahead in footballing terms. It really is quite sensational. We have all the latest ahead of the all-Tayside cup final including news of rapid tickets sales at Tannadice and some nice acts being carried out by big-hearted fans of both Dundee and city rivals United. Lovely stuff.

When you add in the likes of Farage getting an egg chucked at him and a fudge-making sensation called Fraser Bawtree I think you may well agree you are gazing at a pretty enticing package.

And that’s all without the addition of sport.

Talking of which (I like a seamless link) we have news of Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara, who is keen for there to be City of Discovery derbies in the Premiership next season. And funnily enough, so is Paul Hartley.

We’ve got both their takes on a huge weekend for Dundee.

Also there’s news of a change in the Team Muirhead curling line-up that won Olympic bronze and a Scot is flying high in the latest European Tour golf event.

What a way to end the week and indeed at the self-same time look ahead to the weekend. Please do be sure to snap up your copy of The Courier. Alternatively, why not try our digital edition?
