The Caledon Shipyard operated from Carolina Port, near today’s Stannergate Road, in 1916. The connection to the firm is remembered through the names of Carolina Street and Caledon Street. James Middleton worked for the firm prior to enlisting in the Black Watch. He was killed by a shell.
