Rotherham eased through to the second round of the Carabao Cup with a 4-0 win at Shrewsbury in an all League One tie.
Matt Crooks, Kyle Vassell and Freddie Ladapo gave the Millers a 3-0 half-time lead before Richard Wood added a late fourth for Paul Warne’s side.
Rotherham quickly signalled their intent by opening up a two-goal lead inside the first three minutes.
Crooks struck in the second minute, drilling in the loose ball from the edge of the box after goalkeeper Joe Murphy had initially denied Vassell.
United soon doubled their advantage as Vassell ran clear to fire past Murphy.
Vassell fired over before Rotherham moved further in front just before the break as Ladapo scored from close range after Michael Smith headed down Matthew Olosunde’s cross from the right.
Murphy saved from Ladapo and Smith early in the second half as Rotherham pushed forward in search of more goals.
Shrewsbury found chances hard to come by, although young midfielder James Rowland tested Lewis Price from 20 yards.
Rotherham added a late fourth when skipper Wood fired in the rebound in the 84th minute after Shrewsbury were unable to clear a corner.
