Alan Trouten grabbed the only goal as Alloa recorded their first Ladbrokes Championship victory of the season over winless Queen of the South.
The striker proved to be the match-winner – somewhat against the run of play – in the 58th minute when he slotted home through the legs of on-loan Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie.
Queen of the South created the best chances of a goalless first half, with striker Stephen Dobbie firing a powerful volley over before curling another effort just wide.
Substitute Lewis Kidd set up Faissal El Bakhtaoui but the home striker fired over from close range shortly after the restart.
Trouten then capitalise on the Doonhamers’ profligacy to put Alloa ahead before Robert Thomson saw an effort saved by McCrorie as the visitors claimed three points.
