East Fife look set to be frustrated in a loan move for Dundee United striker Ola Adeyemo.
The 20-year-old forward has been tipped for big things by Tannadice boss Jackie McNamara and the Fifers’ manager, Gary Naysmith, was keen to take the player to Bayview to continue his development.
Despite talks between the two clubs, however, the move has stalled after Adeyemo was called up to a winter training camp with the Nigerian under-23 squad.
McNamara has previously said that Adeyemo, who recently signed a contract extension at Tannadice, has a “bright future” with theTangerines and was happy to see him break into the first team against Kilmarnock earlier this season.
“He is still learning but he can finish with both feet, he is quick and strong,” McNamara said.
Adeyemo was born in London but moved to Ireland as a child and became involved in the national association’s youth programme.
He later joined StPatrick’s Athletic and UCD Dublin before a brief spell with Leyton Orient ahead of his move to Tannadice.
Bayview boss Naysmith is still keen to sign Adeyemo on loan but the player is likely to be involved in Nigeria’s friendly against Tunisia tomorrow and could well be needed for the qualifiers to the All-Africa Games.
Meanwhile, defender Ewan Moyes, who has been made available for loan or transfer, is in talks about a move to League Two side Montrose.
