Brechin City travel to Annan Athletic tonight hoping to play a Scottish Cup replay tie that has already been postponed several times due to the weather.

Manager Jim Weir faces an injury headache ahead of the clash and some of the club’s under-19s may have to be brought in to fill the substitutes’ bench.

Central defender Gerry McLauchlan is continuing his recuperation from a double hernia operation and there is also a doubt over the fitness of Ewan Moyes.

Loan players Calum Booth, Anthony Bolger and Paul Mulrooney have returned to their clubs and Charlie King remains out of contention.

Weir said he could be down to just 13 or 14 first-team players, with David White’s return to the side the only silver lining for his depleted squad.

“Annan played really well in the first game at Glebe Park, when we were very much under par, and we will have to be at our very best if we are to progress to the next round,” he said.

“We played really well in our last match against Peterhead, when we won 5-0, and we’ll be looking to take that form into the match.”

Weir added that he is “hopeful” of adding at least one new player to the squad by the beginning of next week and could move for another before the January transfer window shuts.
