East Fife have completed the signing of former Arbroath striker Steven Weir ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen.
The 22-year-old kicked off his senior career with Livingston in February 2006, before being loaned out to Cowdenbeath in January of the following year.
Steven signed for Arbroath at the start of the 2008/9 season and played for just one season, including two starts and two substitute appearances against East Fife.
He scored the Lichties’ second goal against in a 3-2 league victory for the Methil men at Bayview in October 2008.
Weir, who went on to have a trial with Bulgarian side PFC Pirin Blagoevgrad, latterly moved to Australia and had a brief spell with Shepparton South FC in Victoria before returning home.
Weir played for the full 90 minutes for East Fife against Edinburgh City at Ainslie Park on Tuesday.
The Fifers ran out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Bobby Linn and second-half substitute Steve Hislop.
Meanwhile, admission prices for East Fife’s Scottish Cup tie away to Aberdeen on Saturday have been set at £15 for adults and £10 for concessions. Under-12s can get in for £5. However, entry for that age group is by ticket only.
Tickets can be purchased from the ticket office in Pittodrie Street.
