Police officers spoke to Dundee boss Barry Smith after he became involved in a row with referee Craig Charleston at the end of Saturday’s game with Raith Rovers.
It is understood Smith was annoyed by free-kicks awarded to the Stark’s Park men in the build-up to Allan Walker’s winner.
The Dens Park manager is also believed to have been angered by Charleston sending off Craig McKeown for two bookable offences.
Prior to that red card, Raith’s Iain Davidson who had been booked at the start of the second half caught Dundee’s Kyle Benedictus late, but only received a caution from Charleston.
Smith walked on to the pitch to talk to the referee at the final whistle. The manager later continued his debate with the officials in their dressing room.
Afterwards, the police accompanied Smith to another room for a chat, but no further action was taken.
Smith had earlier told the press, “I do not want to talk about the referee. He’s not worth my breath, simple as that.
“The boys knocked their pan in and it wasn’t their fault. Something has caused them to be defeated today.
“I am not saying we played well because I know we can play a lot better but we were worthy of a point until something decided maybe it wasn’t to be.
“We deserved better decisions than we got. I thought the sending off was harsh, especially when there was a decision before it which didn’t go our way.
“A boy who had already been booked came in late but didn’t get sent off.”
