Livingston FC 0 Brechin City 0: City look towards the play-offs

Brechin’s chances of automatic promotion look slim after they could only manage a 0-0 draw away to Livingston.

Jim Weir’s men are now 18 points behind the Almondvale outfit, and the Glebe Park gaffer admits Gary Bollan’s men look like champions.

“The mathematics tell you it is virtually still possible but you have to be realistic,” he said. “I didn’t think we played well in the first half.

“In the second half, we had more of a go and we brought on substitutes with experience.

“We got something out of this game and now we go into another big game on Tuesday against Airdrie United.”

Livingston had a chance to break the deadlock after 12 minutes, but striker Kenny Deuchar’s header missed the target following Joe Hamill’s corner.

Deuchar went close on the hour mark, but his effort from 25 yards was saved by Craig Nelson.

Brechin struggled to make chances throughout the match.

Their best opportunity came 13 minutes from the end when substitute Daniel McKay’s shot was blocked by Livingston defender Jason Talbot.
