Forfar Athletic have another home chance to get their play-off push back on the rails by closing the gap on third-placed visitors Ayr United this evening.
The Loons have taken just four points from the last 15 but that at least included full points from the last meeting of the two sides when Bryan Deasley hit a late winner in another midweek encounter just a fortnight ago.
But the goal touch has deserted the Station Park side and that was all too evident to Dick Campbell on his touchline return at the weekend.
“We’re just not clinical enough in front of goal and that’s cost us in the last couple of games,” Campbell said. “It’s no use dominating games if you do not make that count. We seem to be panicking in front of goal.”
The Angus side go into the encounter with doubts over Paul McQuade and keeper Scott Gallacher, both having picked up injuries which curtailed their part in the weekend draw with Stenhousemuir.
The Honest Men’s last trip to Station Park in October was a calamitous one as they gave away four penalties and had two men sent off in a 4-1 defeat, with manager Brian Reid saying, “That game was a bit of a farce but we have the chance to put that right and also open up a bit of a gap on Forfar by winning.
“Keeping 11 players on the park and not giving away any penalties would be a good way of helping us triumph.”
Defender Martyn Campbell is available after hamstring trouble for Reid, however Dean Keenan remains out with his knee injury.
