Dundee boss Barry Smith has called on his side to pull off a notable capital double by replicating the spirit and desire they displayed while winning at Tynecastle when they travel to face Hibs.
The Dark Blues’ solitary SPL win of the season so far came against Hearts, thanks to a real never-say-die performance.
Smith is demanding the same against the improving Easter Road outfit who have taken 12 points from their opening eight games and sit fifth in the table.
Smith said: ”That is exactly what we’re looking for. We battled away, got the goal and stuck together as a team.
”We didn’t get opened up and it is performances like that which will give us victories.
”There were also very few mistakes that day at Tynecastle and we need to show the same commitment and desire if we want to get something at Easter Road.
”Hibs were beaten last weekend but they have shown they are moving in the right direction and have had some great results.”
Smith revealed that defender Davide Grassi has the all-clear to return to first-team training following a knee operation.
But the manager insists they will leave it until the last minute before deciding whether he can play any part against Hibs.
Smith said: ”Davide has been given the all-clear by the surgeon.
”We’ll see how he is and take things from there with regards to Saturday.”
Meanwhile, Dundee have announced details of an exciting new partnership with Italian giants AC Milan.
The Serie A side will be sending a team of coaches from their soccer school and academy to Dundee next week to give a masterclass to youth coaches involved with the Dark Blues and other clubs at all levels throughout Scotland.
The course will take place next Thursday and Friday at the Dundee University playing fields at Riverside.
Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner was delighted to announce a ”major coup” for the club and hinted that there may be further developments between the two sides.
He said: ”The partnership is particularly exciting because of where it might lead in the future.
”AC Milan are undoubtedly one of Europe’s major clubs and we see this as a first initial step to a longer-term relationship.”
