Craig Robertson counting Dundee FC blessings

Craig Robertson still can’t believe that he has realised his lifelong ambition of playing for Dundee.

The 30-year-old Lochee United midfielder was handed a dream debut as a trialist in the Dark Blues’ win over Raith Rovers on Tuesday.

He made a successful transition from the juniors to the first division and is likely to feature again for the Dens men when they play Morton at home on Saturday.

The qualified accountant has been back at his day job following his starring role at Stark’s Park and has had to pinch himself to make sure it has all been real.

“It was a dream come true,” said Robertson. “I am usually in the stand watching with the fans so to be on the park and able to go to them at the end of the game the other night was an unbelievable experience.

“All my mates and my brothers were there as well as my family so it was an incredible night.

“I was back to work on Wednesday and that was a bit odd. A few of my colleagues are football fans so they knew what had happened and I have had a lot of good luck messages from people.

“All I am interested in now is helping the club and doing my bit over the next two games.”

Dundee will turn back to their other trialist, Neil McCann, for the visit of Morton.

McCann missed out against Raith but is set to make his final appearance for the club before his trial spell is brought to an end.

“Neil is available for the weekend,” said manager Barry Smith.

“He took a knock against Stirling and that kept him out on Tuesday but he is fine now.”
