Arbroath boss Todd Lumsden is hoping that the disappointment his players are feeling after being knocked out in the play-offs on Saturday will help turn them into champions.
The Red Lichties lost 1-0 to a late extra-time goal at Queen’s Park at the weekend and recently appointed manager Lumsden is hoping that his players copy what he did as a player.
Lumsden explained: “I have just signed a two-year contract and days like Saturday make me all the more determined. In the changing room afterwards I sat with my assistant Steven Hislop and Paul McManus, who is out injured just now, and remembered that we lost out in the play-offs with Raith Rovers a couple of times.
“We ended up winning the league and I have asked our players to take this one on the chin and go out and win the league next season.
“I was also with Albion Rovers and it took us four years to get promotion via the play-offs with them and whilst promotion is promotion winning the league is a great feeling.
“Hopefully our players can experience that 12 months from now.”
Lumsden was appointed Lichties boss after the Angus club parted company with Allan Moore last month after a poor run of results since January.
