Dundee United players’ days off cancelled after video nasty

Dundee United assistant boss Gary Kirk has revealed that the players have had their days off this week cancelled as they bid to put right what went wrong during the weekend mauling by Motherwell.

Kirk said: ”It was a bad day at the office on Saturday and we definitely did not see that performance coming as the boys have been working hard.

”I have watched the game again and we did not do enough to win it. They were first to everything and we did not handle it.

“That was probably the first occasion for a long, long time somebody has outbattled us and that was the most galling thing.

”So there won’t be any holidays for the boys this week. They’re in all week as normal because sometimes you have to earn your days off.”

He added: ”We would have probably given the lads some time off with there being no game, but only if they had won against Motherwell.

”The boys will work hard and when the gaffer comes back next week we’ll all sit down and watch the video of the Motherwell game.”
