American investors frustrated by Dundee FC deal delay

Courier sport understands that the American group keen to invest in Dundee are at the end of their tether over what they regard as baffling delaying tactics by the club’s majority shareholders.

Dens CEO Scot Gardiner and manager John Brown were locked in talks all weekend with John Nelms and Tim Keyes of the Texan firm Keyes Capital in a bid to stop them walking away.

During the course of the lengthy conversations, Brown made an impassioned plea asking them to stick with the club, insisting the deal could still go through.

However, that is something the exasperated Americans increasingly fear will not happen.

The Dundee FC Supporters’ Society, who own the controlling stake in the club, had asked for due diligence to be completed on the Keyes Capital bid before they could ballot their members over whether to accept the proposal.

That due diligence was delivered to DFCSS last Monday, which they then passed on to their lawyers on Friday.

That development has left the Americans incredibly frustrated and considering pulling the plug on their proposed investment of £650,000 followed by a further £750,000.

If that were to happen, then former director Bill Colvin who had pledged substantial funds for Brown’s promotion push war chest would also withdraw his money.

It is understood that the uncertainty has put on hold several player deals that were nearing fruition.
