Dundee FC preparing to welcome Steven Milne back to Dens

Former Dundee striker Steven Milne is returning to Dens Park seven years after leaving to try his luck in England.

Milne will join fellow frontman Jake Hyde, who has already agreed a one-year deal, and former Celtic midfielder Ryan Conroy at the Dark Blues, as manager Barry Smith continues to piece together his squad for the new season.

‘Savo’ departed in 2004 and headed south to Plymouth Argyle before returning to Scotland a year later to join St Johnstone.

Smith has also agreed a deal to sign Conroy and sees him as a replacement for Craig Forsyth, who is expected to join Crystal Palace this month.

The 24-year-old is a free agent after being let go by the Hoops and his arrival will be announced early next week along with Milne and Hyde when Smith returns from holiday.

Meanwhile, the Dark Blues have finalised their pre-season schedule.

They face Highland League side Turriff United on July 7, before facing ex-Dundee players Derek Soutar and Bobby Mann at Formartine United two days later.

They host St Johnstone on July 13, before heading to the East Fife tournament on the weekend of July 16/17.

The last game is at Station Park against Forfar on July 20.
