Dundee manager Barry Smith believes Friday football is worth a try and hopes it will bring his team their first home win of the season.
The Dark Blues are the next willing participants in the experiment this week and will welcome Inverness Caley Thistle to Dens to play under the floodlights.
Smith’s men are sitting in bottom spot in the SPL with only four points to their name. However, a victory over the Highlanders would move them to within just one point of city neighbours United, who do not face Aberdeen until the following day.
”I think it is a good idea,” said Smith. ”It is something different. Hopefully, the crowd turns out for the occasion and we can give them a good result.
”Only time will tell if it is a long-term solution for the game but at least it’s a step in the right direction.
”Inverness have had a bit of a resurgence recently so we know it will be nothing other than a very difficult match for which we have to be ready.”
Smith hopes his players’ desire to get that first home win outweighs any loss of confidence in the wake of a poor defeat at Hibs last time out.
He said: ”There will always be a drop in confidence when you are on the kind of run results which we are on. But you are always hoping that the determination to get out of that will be even greater.
”We have been able to work on certain things with there being no game last weekend because of the international break. I can sense the lads want to put things right so it’s up to us to go out there on Friday and show what we can do.”
