Dundee teenager Craig Wighton’s loan move to Raith Rovers confirmed
ByNeil Robertson
As first revealed in The Courier at the start of this month, Dundee’s Craig Wighton has been loaned out to Championship side Raith Rovers.
The two clubs had agreed to the six-month deal but still had to determine where the highly-rated 17-year-old would undergo pre-season either with the Dark Blues at their training camp in Hungary or with the Fife side in Scotland.
That last detail has now been ironed out with Wighton, who has represented Scotland at Under-15, 16 and 17 level, set to link up with his new Rovers team-mates at the Michael Woods Centre in Glenrothes tomorrow.
The teenager is someone McKinnon knows well having had him on loan for a month at his previous club Brechin City last season.
At the age of 16, Wighton became Dundee’s youngest ever goalscorer when he netted, ironically against Raith at Dens in 2013.
Dundee face Rovers at Stark’s Park in a pre-season friendly on July 15.
