Ryan Conroy keen to extend Dens Park stay

Ryan Conroy is in talks surrounding his future.
Ryan Conroy is in talks surrounding his future.

Ryan Conroy has revealed that Dundee boss John Brown has opened talks to try to keep him at Dens next season.

The wide midfielder is out of contract this summer but the manager has assured him he is a big part of his plans as the Dark Blues look to bounce straight back up to the SPL at the first attempt.

The Dens Park outfit will be favourites to win promotion but Conroy insists Dundee have the players in their squad capable of dealing with those high expectations.

He said: “I’ve had a chat with the manager and it’s all been positive. He wants me to be here next season and so do I.

“I’ve enjoyed my football in recent weeks which is the bottom line when your future is, at stake.

“The aim is obviously to win promotion back to the SPL at the first attempt and most people outwith will be expecting us to do so.

“That will make for a bit of expectation but I’m sure we’ve got the players to handle it and it will be down to us to produce.”

Dundee’s season ends on Saturday with a game against Hibs at Easter Road and while on paper there is little at stake for the Dark Blues, Conroy insists they will be giving nothing less than 100%.

He said: “We still want a winning send-off. Hibs might have one eye on the Scottish Cup Final but we want the three points for our own fans to send them into the summer break in good heart.”

Meanwhile, former Dark Blues skipper Rhys Weston is on the lookout for another club after leaving Malaysian side Sabah.
