Dundee midfielder Jim McAlister is hoping for a fresh start both on and off the park for the Dark Blues.
Although players would normally be expected to let boardroom battles pass them by, McAlister has kept an eye on what has been happening behind the scenes at Dens.
A vote will take place in a city theatre on Monday night that could open the door to Texan-backed group Football Partners Scotland eventually taking a controlling interest in the club.
So there could be a new dawn for Dundee at directorial level.
Ahead of the ballot, McAlister is looking for the players to do their bit on the pitch by beating Queen of the South in the opening game of the Scottish Championship season at Palmerston.
“We should get word about what is going on with the [potential] investment in the next couple of days,” said McAlister.
“One minute it has been going through and then it’s been off. Our chief executive Scot Gardiner has spoken to us a couple of times about it.
“The main focus is going to be on youth in the long term but hopefully it can gives us all that wee boost we are looking for.
“From a player’s point of view, though, we want to be talking about the football.
“You want it to be about what’s happening on the park and hopefully we can give people something to speak about throughout the season.
“I don’t think there is any need to approach any game negatively. You saw how we did in the last dozen or so games of last season.
“We had a go every time and it will be the same this time around.”
McAlister has had plenty of people telling him how it will be Dundee’s year but he knows the Dark Blues will have to earn the right to clinch the Championship.
“Being favourites for the league is not something we have spoken about but hopefully we will embrace it,” he said.
“I have had all my pals telling me how they are sure we will be going up but we aren’t taking anything for granted.
“We do have a good bunch of lads a lot of quality but we will keep what we think we can achieve within the dressing room.”
The Dens men have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game. The home side will unfurl the Second Division championship flag before kick-off.
