Dundee United sign Australian defender Curtis Good from Newcastle

Dundee United got off the mark early on transfer deadline day by signing central defender Curtis Good from Newcastle United on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old Australian goes straight into the Tangerines’ squad for the Scottish Premiership match against Partick Thistle at Firhill on Saturday.
The timing of the agreement is ideal for United, who currently have first-choice stopper Gavin Gunning out with a knee injury.
Good is a graduate of the esteemed Australian Institute of Sport and has been capped by his country at under-20 and under-23 levels.
Tannadice gaffer Jackie McNamara said: “Curtis comes to us highly recommended and from a well-respected club.
“He is left-footed and can play as either a central defender or left back.
“These are areas that require cover and it was important this was addressed during the window.
“He is six-foot-one and strong and should give a different option to the defenders already at the club.
“I am very happy to have this deal completed; it offers Curtis the opportunity to get some game time whilst enhancing our squad for the latter part of the season.”
