Falkirk v Raith Rovers: Murray’s men seeking morale-boosting win

Raith Rovers travel to Falkirk this evening looking to end the hosts’ recent run of wins and potentially spark their own faltering season back into life.

The Bairns have got themselves right back in the thick of things in the promotion race after stringing together four league victories in succession, and are sitting just two points behind fourth-placed Queen of the South going into the weekend.

Contrast that with Raith who have lost their last four Championship fixtures and won just one of their last 11 matches, so the bookies will no doubt have Falkirk as firm favourites to record another three points in tonight’s televised clash.

However, Rovers have not given up hope of clawing their way back into the promotion play-off spots just yet and boss Grant Murray knows what a win at Westfield could do for morale at Stark’s Park.

“We’ve got to have that belief about us that we can do what Falkirk have done,” he commented.

“Look at where they were in the table a few weeks ago now they’ve put a few wins together and moved up the table.

“We have to go there believing we can win.

“The last few performances have given me encouragement, now it’s about getting the win that will give us confidence.”

As well as long-term absentee Kevin Cuthbert, midfielders Kevin Moon and Liam Fox are Raith’s only real doubts for today’s trip.

Striker Christian Nade should be fit after shaking off a knock, while defender Craig Barr is in contention for his first start after coming through his first full 90 minutes since knee surgery in a midweek friendly.

Fans are reminded that today’s game has a 5.30pm kick-off as the game will be screened live on BBC Alba.
