Brechin to begin interviewing manager applicants

Ken Ferguson.
Ken Ferguson.

Brechin chairman Ken Ferguson hopes to have a new manager in place at the Glebe before the week is out.

The City board met at the weekend to pore over the applications for the post vacated by Ray McKinnon who has taken over as boss at Championship side Raith Rovers.

They have whittled those down to a short-list with interviews set to take place over the course of two nights.

Ferguson admits Brechin want the new man in place as soon as possible so he can get to work straight away rebuilding a squad that has been hit with the departures of key players such as Alan Trouten, Bobby Barr, Colin Hamilton and Gerry McLauchlan since the end of last season.

The chairman said last night: “We met as a committee at the weekend and have drawn up a short-list.

“We will now conduct interviews over the next two nights and hopefully make an appointment as soon as possible.

“We have seven players tied up and we are still speaking to a couple of others but this is an important time of the close season.

“So we will look to have our new manager in place sooner rather than later so he can work on our squad for next season.”
