‘Massive’ game between Forfar and Cowdenbeath

Forfar have got Cowdenbeath in their sights, and today is their chance to leap-frog their relegation rivals.

A home win at Station Park will take Gary Bollan’s men a point above the Fife club, giving them an obvious incentive.

“After a period of looking to win games and then seeing how other teams have done we know for definite what will happen if we win this game,” Bollan said.

“If we do win, we go above Cowdenbeath and whilst there will be no celebrations at moving into eighth place it is a start in our plans to climb the table.

“Now it is all about hitting a high performance level consistently, starting in this game. Cowdenbeath are a side that can very dangerous on their day. They can turn sides over.”

Michael Travis and Michael Dunlop are still out, with Martyn Fotheringham banned. Iain Campbell is available.

Cowdenbeath manager Colin Nish made no attempt to downplay the importance of today’s clash.

He said: “It is a massive game for both teams and I am sure that Forfar will view it as a great game to win and get the boost of climbing over us in the table. Alternatively if we win we go five points clear with seven games to go which is not too bad a place to be in.

“It is not a be all and end all game but it would be a great game for us to get the three points in.

“I do believe that starting a game well is key to us turning things around. The last time we were ahead in a game was ironically against Forfar.

“We need big performances to win and hopefully we will get them.”

Jamie Sneddon, Fraser Kerr and Kyle Miller all miss out through injury, however Liam Callaghan could return.
