Cowdenbeath can improve despite winning last week

Cowdenbeath manager Colin Nish knows his side were not at their best in the crucial win over Brechin City last weekend and their success may well not be repeated if they play the same way at Albion Rovers today.

The Blue Brazil took a major step towards League One safety by seeing off the Glebe Park men and opening up a five-point gap, however Nish believes his side can play better against Albion Rovers today.

He said: “Beating Brechin was a huge result for us however we cannot get away from the fact that we did not play well. We were a bit fortunate and we cannot look to win again playing at that level.

“We have to return to the form that we showed in the games against Dunfermline, Peterhead and Ayr recently. I am not sure what caused the drop however scoring in the first minute early seemed to unsettle us and perhaps the players were in two minds.

“We only started playing again when it was 1-1 late in the second half and it was good that we marked that turnaround with a win.

“If we can win then we are almost safe from automatic relegation as Brechin and Forfar have still to play each other. However we will keep going until we are safe from the play-off place as well.

“I am looking for an improved performance but the same outcome as the Brechin game.”

Kieran Gibbons is suspended, with Jamie Sneddon and Fraser Kerr still out.
