Much-changed Dunfermline will face Rangers as play-offs take priority

Jim Jefferies and Neil McCann will be rining the changes.

Dunfermline boss Jim Jefferies admits he plans to change his entire team for Saturday’s visit of Rangers.

With second place in League One already secured, Jefferies is determined to guard against the risk of injuries and suspensions ahead of Wednesday’s promotion play-off semi-final first leg.

That means that all 11 players who started the weekend’s victory over Arbroath will be rested when Ally McCoist’s side visit in the final game of the league campaign.

Jefferies, whose team will face whoever finishes third in League One likely to be either Stranraer or Ayr United said: “It’s in my plans not to play anybody that played against Arbroath. Maybe a couple that were on the bench will feature. “It will be eleven changes. If I have anyone in mind to play on Wednesday then I will just give them the first half or an hour or so.

“We want to make sure we don’t take any chances with injuries or sendings off. Our biggest game is Wednesday whoever it’s going to be.

“We’ll have a youngish side, maybe a couple of boys making their debut.

“Our priority is the play-off games now and Ally knows that. I mentioned it to Ally the last time we were at Ibrox that if it came down to that, that I would be playing a lot of younger players.

“He’ll probably want to play his strongest side because they’re going for the undefeated record but we’ll not be anywhere near full strength and I think people have to understand that.

“We’ll just try and give a good account of ourselves and give some of the younger guys a chance.

“It’s great experience for the younger ones. You’re better not taking any risks and it will be good for some of the supporters to see some of the younger players, and maybe it will give us something to think about.”
