Cowdenbeath hoping for home comforts

Cowdenbeath hoping for home comforts

Cowdenbeath manager Colin Nish is hoping that returning to Central Park will help them get off the bottom of the League One table against Stenhousemuir.

Nish explained : “I am glad to be at home as our away form has not been great. The last time we played Stenhousemuir was an example of that. That was a day when we simply never got going and deserved to lose 4-2.

“We have struggled in other away games but I saw encouraging signs in the defeat at Ayr. We had gone behind to a side full of confidence after just 41 seconds and that gave us a mountain to climb but we were good going forward. Unfortunately that left space at the back and we were picked off however there is a platform to build on.

“Defensively we have not been as good as we should be all season but we are working hard to put that right.”

Nish added: “In our last couple of home games we have beaten Forfar and drawn with Peterhead so we know that we can do well. This would be a big game to win as it could get us off bottom spot and to within a point of Stenhousemuir.

“There is not a huge gap between us and a good number of teams but it would still be nice to get the win and move in amongst the pack as opposed to being at the bottom of it.”

Dean Brett is available after suspension however skipper John Armstrong looks set to miss out after being injured in a development game in midweek. Longer term injury victims Lewis Milne and Jack Beaumont are also absent.
