Arbroath caretaker boss sets a new target

Arbroath caretaker boss sets a new target

Now that their play-off place is secured, Arbroath’s stand-in boss Todd Lumsden has targeted third place in the league.

Lumsden said: “We are going down to Albion Rovers on what is a day of celebration for them after winning the league last weekend. They are deserved champions as they were consistent throughout it and won more games than we or anyone else did.

“We have still to secure third place and I want that done by the end of this game. There should be a decent crowd there and I sure that will help our players just as much as it helps theirs.”

Lumsden has not had an update on the search for a new manager, nor has he asked for one.

He explained: “I am just carrying on with things as I have been asked to do. All I am looking to do is to build on a decent performance in the draw with Queen’s Park.

“That point clinched our play-off place and settled things down a bit. We had to play with a few players out of position but hopefully we will be better placed for this game.

“I asked the players to deliver energy and commitment after a difficult week with the manager leaving and they did that. Hopefully we can use that as a springboard for a win at Cliftonhill.”

Top scorer Simon Murray picked up a knock last Saturday however he is expected to be available for the Red Lichties. Jordan Lowdon and Dylan Carreiro are both poised to return to starting roles after injury, however Jonathan Lindsay, Adam Hunter and Paul McManus all remain out.
