Stirling Albion 3 Montrose 1: ‘No complaints’ from Garden

Stuart Garden rued a bad start to both halves.

Bryan Deasley grabbed his sixth goal of the season but it was not enough to prevent Montrose from going down to their first League Two loss since mid-August.

Deasley tasted defeat for the first time since joining on loan from Forfar and admitted Stirling were well worth their victory.

The ex-Dundee player said: “We’ve been doing well recently but it didn’t happen for us on Saturday and we got what we deserved.

“It was nice to get another goal but the team is the important thing and hopefully we can bounce straight back against East Stirling next week.

“I am here on loan until January and that is also when my contract at Forfar runs out, so hopefully I can keep scoring goals.”

Montrose boss Stuart Garden said: “We started both halves badly and that cost us. We can’t have any complaints about the result hopefully it is just a blip as we have been on a good run.”

Albion took the lead after just 60 seconds when defender Chris Smith headed home a Danny Ashe corner but Deasley equalised on 15 minutes with a terrific finish from 20 yards.

Jordan White fired the Binos in front early in the second half after a good run by Phil Johnston and sub Sandy Cunningham raced clear to score the third with 13 minutes remaining.

Stirling boss Greig McDonald said: “That was our best performance of the season. We played some great stuff and fully deserved the win.”
