East Fife should have top scorer back

East Fife should have top scorer back

East Fife should have top scorer Nathan Austin back for today’s trip to face Stirling Albion.

The on-loan Falkirk striker missed the 4-2 win over Annan last weekend but manager Gary Naysmith is optimistic he will be back in teh etam this afternoon.

Naysmith reported: “It is a bonus as we were not expecting him to be fit. However he trained with Falkirk during the day on Thursday and then came and did some work with us on Thursday night.

“If he suffers no reaction then I am in the terrific position of having a selection headache of the right kind to solve. Nathan has been great all season but Kevin Smith and Jamie Insall were our best players against Annan.”

Meanwhile, Naysmith knows that his side will be facing a highly-motivated Stirling.

He said: “It will be far from easy as Stirling will view this as a must-win game in terms of their promotion hopes.

“However my approach is fairly simple in that if we win we keep in control of top spot and create a greater gap on one of the best teams in the league.

“This is our sixth game of the season against each other and whilst we have done well in the league they did knock us out of the Scottish Cup.”

Stevie Campbell has recovered from a knock, with Paul McManus added after agreeing a short term deal with the Fifers.
