St Johnstone to take a look at trialist Joe Thompson
ByIan Roache
St Johnstone have taken Bury midfielder Joe Thompson on trial.
The 26-year-old Englishman, who can play on the right or left side, will be given a chance to convince manager Tommy Wright he would be a good addition to the squad.
Thompson has already proved he is a winner by beating cancer.
He was diagnosed with Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in the autumn of 2013 when he was at Tranmere Rovers but was given the all-clear the following summer.
He subsequently moved to Bury and most recently has been on loan at Southport.
Meanwhile, Saints will be without central defender Steven Anderson and midfielder Simon Lappin for the trip to Dens Park to play Dundee on Saturday.
Both men are suspended and there are also injury doubts over Frazer Wright and Brian Easton but both are expected to be fit to face the Dark Blues.
Murray Davidson is back at training this week after having an injection to help with his knee injury.
