Hamilton v St Johnstone: Saints boss picks up striker
ByNeil Robertson
St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has bolstered his squad ahead of the League Cup tie at Hamilton with the addition of former Walsall front man George Bowerman.
The 21-year-old was a Saints signing target during the summer but Wright has had to be patient to land the free agent on a short-term deal through to January.
The manager said: “George was one we liked and we came close to getting him here earlier.
“He was still without a club and George is here because he wants a chance to prove himself, rather than it being about money.
“It was a no-brainer as far as I was concerned when it emerged that we could get him. He had a great start to last season with Walsall with six or seven goals.
“He got the League One player of the month award but for whatever reason it didn’t go right for him after that.
“Now we have him and he is a mobile and versatile player who can play up top or in a wide left position.
Wright added: “Now it is about Accies. We got praise for winning in Norway and Minsk but we can’t be looking back. We are looking for positive results going forward, starting in Hamilton.”
