St Johnstone boss Steve Lomas has declared himself delighted to see a ruthless streak in his side as they grabbed an excellent win over Aberdeen.
Saints were clinical in front of goal, with Gregory Tade, Rowan Vine and Dave Mackay all on target in the 3-1 success.
The finishing was what made all the difference on a windy night at McDiarmid Park.
“That was just what the doctor ordered,” said Lomas.
“I thought it was well deserved too. I thought we were pretty comfortable in the first half.
“Frazer Wright had one cleared off the line, then Gregory did brilliant to produce such a composed finish after missing an earlier chance.
“We were fine until there was a little slip from Calum Davidson to let them in just before half-time (Niall McGinn levelled for the Dons). You worry about the psychological aspect of that but they stuck about their task.
“Our new signing Michael Doughty came on at the right stage. He has young legs and freshened us up when they were getting too much ball in midfield.
“Then to get two goals in two minutes was brilliant. We were ruthless in front of goal and that’s really pleasing.”
Dons manager Craig Brown was understandably downbeat.
“To play as poorly as we did in the latter part of the game is unaccountable,” said Brown.
“Each goal was a gift and St Johnstone took their chances and got the victory.”
