Injury-hit Dundee CCS Stars have been homing in another import forward to boost their firepower.
The move follows Sunday’s defeat at bottom Edinburgh Capitals. Stars, who are fourth in the table, are left with a handful of fully-fit forwards and skipper Brock McPherson iced but was not 100% fit following an upper body injury.
Russian-born Nikita Kashirsky, the club’s assistant player/coach, is sidelined following an injury in training last week.
Stars hope to have him back by Saturday’s trip to Nottingham Panthers.
Mike Ward, one of the club’s directors who was in the stands at Murrayfield when Stars let slip a 3-1 lead to go down 4-3, said: “It wasn’t one of our best night’s at the office.”
The former Dundee Rockets goaltender said: “Sunday was disappointing, a major disappointment in fact. We were in control of Saturday’s game which we won 4-2.
“We also were in control of Sunday’s game at 3-1 but let it slip. We move on.”
He complimented McPherson, adding: “Jack (MacLellan) scored two goals on his debut and played well during the weekend. He’s fitting in well and he wants to succeed.”
Meanwhile, Hull Stingrays player/coach Sylvain Cloutier has started his build-up to Wednesday’s home joust with Braehead Clan who remain in second place in the 10-strong table, despite being burned 4-2 at mid-table Coventry Blaze on Sunday.
Sunday’s 7-2 defeat at Kirkcaldy to Fife Flyers was a major blow for Hull and Cloutier is looking for a reaction from his squad.
Guillaume Doucet and Omar Pacha provided Hull’s only scores on a dismal night and Cloutier said: “We didn’t show up we were awful.”
