Three Howe of Fife players have been named in the Scotland U20 squad for the first of three training camps next week, in preparation for the IRB Junior World Championship (JWC) in New Zealand in June.

Among the 17 forwards selected is prop Cameron Fenton, who is currently at Strathallan. He is joined in the squad by two Howe club-mates, scrum-half Murdo McAndrew and George Horne.

McAndrew is currently with Clermont Auvergne, under the watch of Scotland’s incoming head coach, Vern Cotter, while Horne, the younger brother of Glasgow Warriors and Scotland inside back Peter Horne, has been playing his rugby with Premiership side Currie.

All three played in the Six Nations U20 Championship this season and they are expected to be in the 28-man squad travelling to New Zealand, where Scotland have been drawn with New Zealand, South Africa and Samoa.

Head coach Sean Lineen said: “Everyone is looking forward to the first JWC camp, where the priority will be on rugby conditioning and also to have a look at our defence and phase attack options.”
