Glenalmond College achieved their second success in two years in Brewin Dolphin Schools competitions with a decisive 46-7 win against Dundee High School on the back pitches at BT Murrayfield to claim this season’s under-18 Shield title.
The Perthshire school produced a dynamic performance to outclass Dundee High School with an eight-try victory.
For Dundee High reaching the Shield final was an achievement in itself. Moreover High School’s team contained a high percentage of younger players all of whom will contribute next season.
“We just never got going tonight. They hit us with a few early tries and there was no way back,” said High School coach Ewan Jack.
Glenalmond had the game won by half-time when they led 34-0 with tries by Ruaraidh Leader (2), Gordon Porter (2), James Renouf and Paul Ritch, two of these converted by stand-off Blair Goodfellow.
After the break Glenalmond added further tries from Duncan Wither and Roland Kossler and a conversion by Goodfellow.
Dundee found some form in the last quarter and were rewarded with a try by replacement Sean Gauld.
In the under-16 Shield Final favourites Stewart’s-Melville College defeated Strathallan School 36-11.
