Self-taught artist Carl Lavia is on a mammoth mission to sketch the 69 cities of the UK – and his aerial pen drawing of Dundee is the latest to go on display.

A diving helmet sits atop our man’s greying hair, the iron collar of an old-fashioned diving suit circles his fisherman’s collar. Thing is, if this man is drowning, he doesn’t look at all worried. Rather, he seems philosophical.
ILLUSTRATED IS Woman by a Leaded Window. It was painted in 1958 by Glasgow School of Art-trained Robert Colquhoun. Oil on canvas, it is a couple of feet square and was presented to Dundee not long after its paint had dried.
