The BBC has bowed to pressure to provide viewers with information about abortion after being criticised following a row sparked by an episode of Call The Midwife.

The BBC has refused to offer abortion advice because the issue is too “contentious” and treated it as a political matter, a health charity has claimed.
Midwives have warned of the pressures they are under from a lack of staff, rising obesity levels and women giving birth later in life.
The Royal College of Midwives has said it was kept in the dark over the sudden closure of Montrose Maternity Unit for births.
