12/09/14 SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIP RAITH ROVERS v RANGERS (0-4) STARKS PARK - KIRKCALDY Ross Laidlaw in action for Raith Rovers.

Raith Rovers goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw was delighted with his debut for Elgin City against Queen’s Park at the weekend, after joining the League Two side on loan.

The 22-year-old got his gloves dirty for the first time since October, as he helped his new club to a 1-1 draw against the promotion-seeking Spiders.

To cap his day Laidlaw stopped a penalty from Shaun Fraser.

Laidlaw said: “It was exactly what I needed. It was great to get a game again and to save a penalty at Hampden made it even better.

“I have signed for a month at Elgin and we will see what happens during that time about whether I stay for longer. I am not training with Elgin and will continue working full time at Raith during the week but getting games is terrific.”

“There are two really experienced goalkeepers at Raith Rovers and that is just one of those things that can happen in your career. I try to learn from them in training every day but going out and getting experience is terrific for me as well.”
